Description

Earth Science Explorers: A Journey Beneath and Beyond the Surface

Join us for an 8-week hands-on science adventure as students dig deep into Earth’s dynamic systems! From edible models to creative art projects, each week brings a new layer of discovery, combining real-world science with immersive, tactile learning experiences.

Week 1: Layers of the Earth

We kick off by becoming junior stratigraphers, building edible Earth Layer Pudding Cups and creating rice maps to understand the structure beneath our feet.

Week 2: Plate Tectonics & Earthquakes

Budding seismologists explore how the Earth moves using DIY seismographs and edible tectonic plates to simulate quakes and shifts.

Week 3: Tsunamis

Waves take center stage as we learn how tsunamis form through ocean wave art and build our own “tsunami in a bottle.”

Week 4: Volcanoes & Geysers

Explosive fun awaits as students step into the shoes of a volcanologist—constructing volcanoes and experimenting with soda geysers!

Week 5: Earth’s Surface

We map out the land with a focus on topography, using hands-on tools to understand how Earth’s surface is shaped and measured.

Week 6: The Rock Cycle

Through candy-based models and edible sedimentary rocks, students take on the role of geochronologists to track how rocks form, change, and recycle.

Week 7: Weathering, Erosion & Deposition

Young speleologists investigate the power of natural forces through chalk and sugar cube weathering, and make mini “caves in a cup.”

Week 8: Fossils

In our final week, students become paleontologists—sorting fossils and crafting their own, while learning how ancient life is preserved underground.
