Frequently Asked Questions

Do the kids just play all day?

Not at all. While our days are full of movement and nature-based exploration, every activity is intentionally designed to meet educational goals. We create custom, hands-on curriculum that blends academic learning with real-world application—through science experiments, history projects, journaling, art, leadership training, and more.

We currently serve a wide range of students, from Kindergarten through high school. Class groupings are developmentally appropriate and sometimes mixed-age to promote mentorship, collaboration, and community.

  • A packed lunch and water bottle
  • Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing
  • Close-toed shoes
  • A backpack with basic supplies (we’ll send a list if needed) On field trip days or special outings, we’ll give you a heads-up on anything extra.

We believe in embracing the elements! Unless there is extreme weather (lightning, hazardous air quality, etc.), we remain outdoors. Rainy days are rich with opportunity—but we’ll adjust plans to prioritize safety and comfort. “There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.”

We maintain a low adult-to-student ratio to ensure safety, individualized attention, and meaningful relationships. Our guides are trained, passionate, and dedicated to mentoring each child.

While we hold to values that support strong families, character development, and community, our curriculum is not faith-based. We proudly serve students from all backgrounds, including those enrolled through charter schools, and we design our programming to be inclusive and welcoming to all. We steer clear of controversial topics and focus on providing a safe, respectful environment where every child can thrive through rich, hands-on learning experiences.

We believe every child is capable, valuable, and deserving of a tailored learning experience. Our guides do their best to accommodate different needs and learning styles. Please communicate with us so we can partner well with your family.

We take all concerns seriously and aim to resolve issues with transparency and grace. Respect, safety, and kindness are foundational to our culture. If any situation arises, we will contact families directly and work together toward a solution.

We communicate regularly through email, social media updates, and class recaps. You’re always welcome to reach out to us directly with questions or feedback.

Safety is always our top priority. Our guides are trained, attentive, and maintain clear check-ins, boundaries, and supervision throughout the day. Whether we’re out on a nature walk, at a local farm, or on campus, we always know where our students are—and we’re proud to say we haven’t lost one yet!
That said, we also believe in giving students space to explore, grow, and make choices. Studies—and our experience—show that when students are trusted with freedom, they begin to develop a deeper sense of personal responsibility. With that freedom comes an understanding that their actions matter, and our guides are there to coach them through those moments, helping shape confident, capable kids who know how to lead themselves and others well.
